July 3, 2010, D-Day ! Vincennes Castle

Arrived the night before, "Dolly" and "Satanas and
Diabolo "(No. 4 and 5) have already inaugured their first « wild » camping.

This morning despite the bad weather and the rain, the 22 teams were present on the start line.

Led by Cedric and Christopher, two former organizers,
they cheerfully presented themselves on the podium.

Distribution of Road Books and stickers of sponsors, last briefing and final recommendations by Philippe, the Raid organizer, departure was launched at around 12:30.

And already the first technical problem : "La PAU du Lyon » (Team 7) doesn’t start. A few minutes and a recharged battery later, everyone is now on the road!

Program for this first day: a lot of highway, a flash crossing of Belgium, a little German, and a total of 705 km (For those who did not get lost!).

Tonight, 2O teams showed up at the first checkpoint.

Desmond (No. 18) who bumped into another car in the traffic at Essen has been delayed. He's fine but deplores a broken light and a dented hood. He nevertheless continues the adventure and will join us in a few days in Helsinki.

Jean (No. 16), 88 years old, follows its own pace and camped in his car. He decided to take a little ahead of schedule and will join us tomorrow in Copenhagen.

At the Waldwinkel campsite, installation were settled in haste and often in the dark (thanks to the inventor of the automatic opening tent !) ; rare are the raiders who hanged around before going to bed.
